8:00 pm (discussion), Thursday, March 1 LGBT Resource Center (Rm 323, Illini Union)

9:00pm (show), Thursday, March 1 Canopy Club, 708 S Goodwin Ave, Urbana

In the early gays, drag was a defining aspect of the culture. Even now, drag has been enjoyed by many, both in and out of the LGBTQIA+ community. Come to this week’s oSTEM meeting to learn more about the history of drag and its influence on gay culture. After our discussion, we’ll take a trip to Canopy Club for the Illini Hillel Purim Drag Show! Tickets are $5. Don’t miss out!

In Response to Concerns Regarding Tonight's Event:

Yesterday and today, we have received some concerns regarding this week's oSTEM meeting, and we wanted to make a clarifying statement. As an Executive Board and at the suggestion of the oSTEM National Organization, we try to keep oSTEM as apolitical as possible. Over the years, we have hosted and accepted donations from a variety of corporate sponsors, and we do not believe that these actions constitute an endorsement by oSTEM of those sponsors' positions (political or otherwise). Similarly, we do not believe that attendance of the Purim Drag Show after this week's oSTEM meeting represents an endorsement by oSTEM of the positions (political or otherwise) taken by the organizers. We recognize that this position will not be satisfactory to all of our membership, but we hope that this statement clarifies exactly what our position is. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us atostem.illinois@gmail.com or via a Facebook message. - The oSTEM@Illinois Executive Board (Austin, Harold, Noah, Jason, Mads, Michael, and Nathan)

The resumes of our members are kept in our resume book, which we provide to companies who have shown support to oSTEM. This means that these companies are committed to fostering LGBTQIA+ supportive environments, and are potentially looking for candidates from our organization! This resume book will also be kept strictly confidential - the only people who will see it are our exec board members, and members of the companies who have supported oSTEM.

If you need your resume reviewed, shoot us a message on our Discord! We may be hosting a review session in the near future.
