Navigating Professionalism Pitfalls as an LGBTQIA+ Student

Professionalism is a social construct, and, as such, it is tailored to the privileged white cis-het plurality present in America and the West. Navigating this construct as an LGBTQIA+ person is therefore fraught with challenges without obvious solutions. What does “business formal” mean when you’re a nonbinary individual? How can you market your leadership roles in queer organizations when you don’t have the ability to interview exclusively at companies with pro-LGBTQIA+ track records? Join us on Thursday for a group discussion on our collective experiences with problems at the intersection of professionalism and our LGBTQIA+ identities. Snacks will be available.
